The Food

The food

The resources of this week that found on the internet are mainly talking about healthy food and diet. The first resource is talking about how important eating food affect people’s health and how to eat food could help people keep healthy. The other one is a book which I found it on the Google book. It is mainly introducing about the methods of losing weight, and how to eat to loss weight and also keep it later.

“Eating is one the most important events in everyone’s life…. We know so much about eating: we are born with the desire to eat and grown up with rich traditions of eating. But we also know so little about eating- about how the foods we eat everyday affect our health.” (Eat your way to health and longevity, 2007) As we know before, people’s energy is getting from food that they eat. Therefore, the food what people eating affect people’s bodies absolutely. As a higher educated students, the food what they eat is more important for them because of the heavy schoolwork. They need the nutrition both for their bodies and their brain. Neither of them weak could impact their study grades. Therefore, the students do not only need nutrition; they need various kinds of nutrition which include vegetable, fruit, rice, meet, milk, and gain. Here are some of healthy diet plan which could be used for planning the diet plan and the healthy food which the students could reference: http://www.changingshape.com/dietandnutrition/mealplans/plans/1517.asp, http://helpguide.org/life/healthy_eating_diet.htm, http://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/27/9/2154.full.pdf+html.

Losing weight is becoming a topic of our society. We are living in a rich material society, which could lead the students could eat more than they need or eat something that they do not need actually. A healthy life need a healthy eating habit which does not means “as more as possible”. It means the right amount is the best. “Losting weight, Gaining life, Good carbs and bad carbs. Searching for the right weight-loss plan, a science of success….” (Arthur Agatston, M.D., 2003) are all the ways that this book introduces that students could use to follow and learn to keep health.

Two Pieces of Research

The first resource mainly talk about a new discover of biology clock, which is researched by Northwestern University. The second and third resources that I find are talk about the healthy daily life. They are just time table which could be used by students to reference their own daily life table, so that they could life healthier. These resources are helpful for me to write the project of my topic. They are relating to my topic.

There are two main systems in people’s bodies, which are the nervous system and the digestive system. The nervous system mainly control about people’s brain and body’s movement. Enhance the brain’s activity could make the brain more and more smart, so that to help students to study very well. That is depend on rest time and how frequently students use their brain. The organs in people’s body which play an important roles for people keeping health. The digestive system is especially important because it is the main system to provide energy to people. Therefore, protect these two system is very important for people keeping health.

In Chinese medicine, people believe about the balance of body, there are two “Qi” in people’s bodies which are “Yinqi” and”Yangqi”. Only if they are balance, people’s bodies could work well. How do they balance? It is depend on human body’s biology clock and people’s daily life. The biology clock is an invisible clock in people’s body. “Regardless of our preferences, we are all governed by a biological clock with an approximate cycle of 24 hours corresponding to the Earth's rotation time. Biologically speaking, this molecular clock is known as the circadian rhythm.” (Tick, Tock the Biological Clock, 1998) It controls everything of our bodies, like what is time to sleep, when people need to sleep, and when people should to eat food. Using one day life to give an example, because of the college students always have a lot of homework, they have to stay up in the night to finish their homework. Obviously, they cannot have enough sleeping time to give their body and head sufficient rest. Rest is another way to get energy. Therefore, having a healthy daily life is very important for college students. These are some links about the healthy daily timetable: http://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB117/B117_DIV2-en.pdf (world health organization, 2005) http://www.skyswood.herts.sch.uk/index.php?/eng/School-Life/Daily-Timetable(Daily Timetable, 2010)

The students could use this information to reschedule their daily life so that they could use their time more efficiency.

Overview

Quotations: is a kind of material which exactly comes from the information that you found word by word.

Paraphrasing: is kind of material which comes from the information that you found not word by word, but in your own words to explain the meaning of it.

Summarizing: is to conclude the main ideas of the material that you want to use by using your own words.

My topic of my proposal is “Health”. We all know that health is concerned by everyone no matter who you are. However, not everyone knows how to protect our body. So, now please follow me to learn about your body. First, I will introduce the function of your body in order to let you know better about it. Then, I will help you improve your health through telling you how to eat and how to do exercise. After knowing that, I believe you could improve your health condition very well.

First, everyone has a body. But, not everyone knows about it. Just like every sport, only if you know the rule, you could play well in this sport; so do our bodies. Only if you know how it works, you could know how to let them work well to prevent the disease and how to let your body become more and more healthy. That is why I want to introduce the body first in my proposal.

Second is the regular diet. You are what you eat. People replace the old with the new every second. What is the new? The answer is the food. Therefore, what you eat is very important for you. From the book named Your Personal Program for Lasting Weight Loss, which is written by Madelyn Fernstrom, “To lose weight and keep it off, you’ve first got to accept that food intake alone is not the master tool leading to long-term successful weight loss” (p.55). I will tell you how to eat, what to eat, and when to eat, to help you manage your diet.

Third is the exercise. We all know that the life come from doing exercise. I will introduce to you how to do exercise. What exercise is fit for you to do, and what is the good time for your body to do exercise. Why doing exercise could improve your health. For example, doing exercise could “help you manage your weight.” (Mayo Clinic staff)

What kind of ways could people use to keep our body healthy?

One working research question: What kind of ways could people use to keep our body healthy?

Having a healthy body is the wish for everyone, especially in nowadays, more and more people are in the sub healthy because of the heavy work and study. However, how could we get it? Knowing how does our body work, how to eat healthy, and how to do exercise scientifically are three effective ways to keep our bodies healthy.

First, people should understand our body. For example, what is the function of the stomach? How does it work? From my research I learn the digestive system is the main system direct relate to the “food”. What is the process of the food to digest? After I study this, I know better about my body. You’d better not to eat food as much as you want, because the stomach also need time to relax in order to work better later. Therefore, protect and take good care of your body is very important.

Second, after the first step, I know more about our body. I know what is our body really needed and when to eat food is better. Therefore, a regular and healthy diet is must to have. From the website, I learned a healthy diet includes fruits, vegetables, meat, fat-free or low-fat milk, fish, beans, eggs and nuts. A healthy regular diet is low in unhealthy fats, salt and added sugar.

Third, life lies in movement. The body needs to do exercise just like the car needs to be driven. The car will be broken if it not be driven frequently, your body does not work very well if you do not do more exercise. Besides that, doing exercises also have several other benefits which are introduced on the website: exercise improve your mood, exercise helps you manage your weight, and exercise combats chronic diseases, and so on (Mayo Clinic staff). Therefore, doing exercise is the most scientific way to help you to keep health.

The audients of this topic is the people who are in the sub healthy, people who want to be health, people who are care about their body, the old people and also it may be include educators who want to introduce the knowledge of body and health to their students. Because they are realize their body have problem and they do not feel good about their body, therefore they need to change the state of their bodies.

The purpose of this article is tried to introduce the body of ourselves, and try to tell people how to protect our bodies through regular diet and exercise in to keep health.
